No more chrome dome
« on: November 20, 2016, 08:57:44 AM »
I liked the look of the chrome console, but it was pretty glaring in the summer, reflecting on the windshield.

I switched to the painted console. Not as vintage-looking but is much easier on the eyes.

I was looking at TrkLdy's yesterday who also did the front bezel and it looks good. Definitely thinking about it also maybe come spring , spent enough $$$ this yr setting up the new bike. Dose getting rid of the, chrome help with seeing the readout on the dash ? Because I can hardly see mine a times , my 14 was much better than the 16. If sothat will push me to doing it for sure.

The reason you and I can't see the readouts is because she are getting old. That accepted, yes, it helps me -- at least I'm not staring into all that glare or burning and hole in my retina.

Skip, that looks great, especially on a red bike.  And the willow green & cream bikes, too.  The chrome console doesn't bother me but when I do have my bike custom painted I'm going to color match it.

My dealer had the console airbrushed to look like an arrowhead and it really looked nice. A bit too much for me personally but it did look good. Wish I had taken a picture of it now.

Is the painted console a catalog item or did you get it painted?

The painted consoles are factory accessories.  I like mine in chrome, though.

Hmmmmmmm...... If the seat is black I wonder if a black console from the accessories catalog would look good on an all red Springfield?

Yes it would but it is cheaper to just paint, wrap or hydro-dip it.
