Indian 19 inch wheel install
« on: December 02, 2017, 02:45:26 pm »
Has anyone installed the new 19" wheel on a Chieftain without replacing the supplied new triple clamps?

Huh..? A low profile tire on a 19" rim is the same diameter as a 16" tire....No need to change anything....but must make sure tire you order is same diameter as original...........

Dunlop has a tire chart that shows tire diameter

I did on my Chieftan.  First noticed what seemed like "quicker" handling, I could dip into a turn easier.  Now after a thousand miles or so it seems just normal.  Don't knew what the deal was with the new triple clamps, would love to measure them against  the stock ones to see that the difference is.  As mentioned before, the diameter of the lower profile tire with the 19" is virtually the same as the stock 16".

I didn't install the triple clamps on mine. I set the stock tire up against the new dunlap and they were the same. Like mentioned before when I first rode it seemed like the turn in was a lot quicker. In my opinion it does handle a lot better.
