VOLTAGE REGULATOR THEN STARTER
« on: January 20, 2018, 08:37:03 pm »
I guess I ran out of luck. This is my fourth new Indian.A 2017 Chieftain.

My 2014 and 2016 Chieftains were trouble free as is the wife's Scout.

At 7K the voltage regulator died. Then the starter went south.I went ahead and also bought a new battery as i have had problems in the past after a battery has been fully discharged.

Trips to Daytona Indian ,Daytona Beach Fl,have been painless! No waiting for Polaris OK,no hassle. In at 9 out by noon.

This is such a pleasant change from my Harley days!

Did the VR give any indication before it failed?
My Indian is running at about 14.2V+ but the volts aren't so happy just after starting. I often have concerns that it won't have enough juice to turn over.

I didn't notice any problem until total failure. There was no warning or codes.

The dealer said this was not a common problem.

My voltage regular totally blew out -- actually had a hole in it.

My dealer said they have had three regulators go out, but they also have sold hundreds of Indians.
The shortest distance between two points is boring.
